Amber Pilot Light
I've been looking at Ron's Francesca documents for my upcoming express inspired build. I've seen a few builds using the amber (orange) pilot light similar to the one used in Francesca, but, I haven't had any success in finding them. Got links?
Many thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Kregg

Re: Amber Pilot Light
on the BOM, the source for this pilot light is stated as Mode Electronics- part #55-463-0. i believe (although I could be wrong) that they are currently out of stock. speaking of pilot light questions- i was wondering if anyone has used a 6.3v jewel light in any TW builds (I like the look although I realize it is not "stock"). can you place it into the circuit with the heaters? i.e PT-light-heaters-PT as a complete circuit? thanks for any input

Re: Amber Pilot Light
Allyn usually has a few of the stock indicators.. And yes you could use a 6.3 type off the heater circuit.. you'd either have to find one that fit the chassis hole,or would have to change/dril the hole for a bigger indicator.
In that section of the amp there is not a lot of room length wise,so i don't know if one of those fender type holders would fit.. but they do make many other indicators that would fit and work..

Re: Amber Pilot Light
thanks- yes, i realize that i will have to drill a larger hole for the assembly to fit, but i didn't think about the room issue... maybe i will just use the smaller 120v light

Re: Amber Pilot Light
Thanks all, I got it taken care of. Now on to the important stuff. Is the Bright Switch: On-On, On-Off-On, or an On-On-On?

Pilot lamp
Hello!
On a few of my latest amps I have used a super bright purple LED. I hook it up with about a 470 ohm 1/2 watt resistor to the 6.3 vac filaments. Since it is a/c you don't have to worry about which wire goes to the anode or the cathode of the LED.

Re: Amber Pilot Light
I tried replying to this thread at work and got bumped off oh well.
I have use amber 120v light Number 8280110 from Mojomusicalsupply.com
Green saucer lamp 120v from turretboards.com
But would really like it someone supplied the amber lights from Mode Electronics so I don't have to find a local supplier to order for me.
The lights from Ceriatone seem close but then how would I know I never had one from Mode.

Re: Amber Pilot Light
they are in canada.. but a place in tenn stocks them.. the bad thing is.. no matter how many they get.. Allyn usually buys all of them.. i tried to order some, and you have to wait till they do an order..how would I know I never had one from Mode.
if you try to buy direct from them in cananda..you have to pay some import tax or something, which make them expensive..
if you get them from the place in tenn. you don't have to pay the tax thing, and they are not very much.. i've only got a few left for myself..
Re: Amber Pilot Light
Allyn are you hording all the lights?
Are these lights on your website for me to order? How about some original color TW boards with flea clips and correct caps too.
Thanks Allyn.

Re: Amber Pilot Light
flea clips, those are about dried up,not many have any of those left, and if they do, they are probably going to keep them. The signal caps, you can get, a few rubycon caps are impossible to find.TW boards with flea clips and correct caps too.
The boards, are another thing that are pretty much dried up. The good thing is, most of these things can be replaced with something different, and still work. But if your doing an exact clone..then you'll have a hard time getting the stuff needed. Allyn probably does have the most parts when it come to the orignial stuff.
Most of the stuff is cosmetics.. the board, you can use new stuff, the signal caps you can still get.. the electrolitic rubycon cab be replaced with caps that are as good or better than the orignials. Flea clips can be replaced with turrets etc..
Everything that matters for the sound, you can still get. If you want to build an exact clone, that might be hard to find al those exact parts..

Something tells me that Ken (if he was still with us) would use a lot of the same stuff available for purchase today.
