thats a cool piece of history,
Re: kitty hawk dumble
100k plates on V1 and V2, 100k slope , V3 has 47k plates and 470 ohm cathode, 820/100 GNFB (accent) can't make out the tail value or the PI input cap (looks smaller than an .02) - Using the 12AT7 PI I doubt it has as many overtones as an ODS, but probably more headroom.

On most of the second generation ODS (no "starve" switch, slightly larger dimensions, slide switches) HAD specified (engraved) 12 AT7 for PI.heisthl wrote:100k plates on V1 and V2, 100k slope , V3 has 47k plates and 470 ohm cathode, 820/100 GNFB (accent) can't make out the tail value or the PI input cap (looks smaller than an .02) - Using the 12AT7 PI I doubt it has as many overtones as an ODS, but probably more headroom.

This is indeed one of the first 20 Dumble clones and indeed some orange drops have been used in the built of these clones. But many other parts like resistors and capacitors are of different origins (e. g. "Siemens" ). So the statement of the current owner, that these clones have been built with "many" original parts is not proven by the pictures (IMHO).Hotrod Ford wrote:thats a cool piece of history,
In regard of the historical value as part of the history of "Dumble Clones" it should perhaps be considered, that this specimen is obviously no longer in its original condition but restored to original specs by the current owner. And as with all restored "vintage" guitars and amps the historical collectors value of such a restored piece is perhaps questionable (IMHO). But it still may be a great "players" amp if you like the sound of the second and third generation ODS.

well Id say changing electrolytic caps is regarded normal service routine after about 30 years ! and even if there were no D spare parts its a cool piece because its a 30 year old D silverface clone, that was my point,
//but I actually do believe that the Siemens caps were original in these Kitty builds
Happy Holidays to yaa
