Voltage delima

Post by rutledj »

I have a PT that has two sets of HV outputs. Connecting the higher voltage set (680vac) results in 500V dc at the choke input. Using the other set (540vac) results in 400v dc at choke. The amp I'm building (Fender blues deluxe derivative) calls for 427v at the choke input.

Am I better off using the 400 volts to help prolong tube life (6v6's or 6L6's)? Or does it really matter?

400 is within 10% of 427. Use that one. You shouldn't even notice a difference.
