Hi ,
just been kindly offered today a surplus 3x10" open back combo ( a Roland Blues cube 60 which is blowing its speakers. )
Just wondered what opinions were on good speakers to go with my ODS 50W HRM if I run this as an extension cab to my existing 4 x 12 ( which is V30's )
any ideas ?
cheers
Pete

Re: 3x10" open back speaker choices ?
People here might think I'm nuts, but...
In looking for a good 10" to compliment a Celestion G12-65, I tried an Eminence Legend, which has been recommended here. To my ears, it was too bright. I looked at some specs for different speakers, and while I am waiting on a Scumback 10" to arrive, I decided to try an Eminence S2010. This is a bass speaker. It is also a neodymium magnet, so it is very light.
I really like it! I suspect the Scumback may have a run for its money when I finally get it. Tonally, the S2010 is an excellent match for the G12-65, but it hits a little faster. I don't know how it would sound with V30's, though. But I actually don't like V30s with this amp, and you might find that you like the 3-10 loaded with these just fine by itself.

cant wait for the 3x10" cab to arrive and start fitting speakers - just which ones ? ? ?

Maybe check out the amp as to why its blowing speakers. Or before hooking up any other speaker.pedro wrote:Hi ,

A SS amp could have a problem and blow any speaker you try, which could get costly.

EVM 10L
If your back can take it, these are some of the best sounding and most reliable speakers around in any size period.
