Hi,
asking for a help, if you wish to step in...
Any owners here, of Morgan MV45?
Friend asked me to restore whole amp wiring to stock, but schematics is impossible to find.
Amp has been modified, FXloop aded, ...
Morgan amplification can not help, they said...
At least some detailed photos of untouched original MV45 would be helpfull...Thanks!

I can see that the effects loop board is a Tube town product, but I hope there might be someone who could post you some gut shots.
Of course the main other question is does your buddy your doing the rehab for know for sure that one of these in stock form would be to his complete liking, otherwise what’s the point in struggling to do so?
Why not first find out what it is about this amp as it is that he would wish/ want to be different?!
I wish you luck!

JTM45 style? I can't tell what all is going on at the input end of the front panel...
I build and repair tube amps. http://amps.monkeymatic.com
Re: Morgan MV45
Yes, loop is from Tube Town and it is very good solution, as are other their KITs.
I upgraded a few amps with their KITs, also tube loops, tested and reviewed, very good.
Well, amp just doesn't sound good, from blocking distortion to noise, I would not dig into details here.
There are a few online review of this amp, that's why he bought it, it was not expensive.
I will try to wire it as original, if I find gut shots, otherwise it will become TW Express clone.
Transformers are beefy from MM, made special for MV45.

Re: Morgan MV45
No, this amp should be something between plexi and Soldano.
Information I found regarding MV45, probably from Joe Morgan:
"The MV45 is my take on the small box 50 watt design. It has more gain than a plexi avail but less than a SLO. It is designed to be extremely touch sensitive and will react to your pick attack and volume control better than any amp you have played. Designed to be able to run either a set of EL34 or 6v6 power tubes, it comes stock with bias test points on the back of the amp to assist you in easy tube swaps."

Can't help with the schematic, but I can say i owned one for a short time and recall not getting along with it at all.
I liked it when it showed up and then plugged into my other amps and the MV45 sounded absolutely dead and steril. I actually had Joe tinker with the filtering to try and salvage it, but I could not bond with whatever that amp was trying to do.

Re: Morgan MV45
Looks like it has some JCM800 origin with mods. The 2.7k bypassed cathode resistor and 10k un bypassed cathode resistor V1, V2 first triode cathode with 680nF bypass cap to cathode follower etc, etc looks 2204 to me with a bunch of do-dads to complicate a really nice core circuit.

Thanks all for your comments.
As I said, I will try to get something better out of this.
Unfortunately, secondary power transformer voltage is pretty low, B+ is 375V only.
I need to check output transformer primary impedance to see if it is worth spending time...
Both transformers are MM made.

Bear in mind that traditional HT voltage levels result in the power amp not overdriving until >60W, maybe nearly 100W at full overdrive. Which is ridiculous, seismic loudness.
If a bit of power amp overdrive is desired at a slightly more useful level, a HT down at 375V seems a good thing to me.
