That's it!! This is my last ODS.
Until the next one...
Unlikely!. I am real picky about what parts I use to build these amps and am out of NOS! and NOT! hunting for more! (ever try to find 1M CTS NOS J taper pots )
It's also my last ODS style chassis.

Good on you Tony I know the feeling .
Funny, I have 3 x NOS 1M CTS J taper pots in a bag here
How about non-NOS J-taper pots that can be found on eBay or tubesandmore.com? Are those any good? I can find supplies of J-tapers from CTS in 250k and 1meg. Just not NOS.

Certainly nothing wrong with the new stock CTS pots both sound and perform very close to the NOS ones.
I prefer to use the J taper 2/35's in certain spots as does Dumble so the settings are as per Dumble spec. This for me is just a personal preference

build is looking good
Merry Christmas
Thanks and Merry Christmas back
The main reason for this build is I had just enough NOS stuff to do 1 more. I think it would be a shame not to put them to good use in a Dumble style build. That as well as I just picked up a quad of perfectly matched RCA Black plates as well. Better knock it out now since I am still in the mood to build I am not sure how much longer I want to continue. I certainly don't need another amp and if it turns out OK I may turn around and sell it to someone who will put it to good use.

Onward and upward.. Output section pretty much wired up as well as the preamp sockets waiting on my toggle switches and a few other odds and ends. So far coming together nicely actually one of my better wiring jobs. After I get the stack wired Thats pretty much it. Will take some better shots when I get it wired up. Let me know if you have any questions..

Looks great Tony. Whoa, you are going max mids and low end with the .047 V1B coupler and 22uf bypass caps. I am curious to get a report on what the amp sounds like when you are done. Hey, were did you get that cool X5F treble cap?

Yeah I know. Hopefully the higher filtering will keep things tight on the way out But we'll see I have some 4.7 uF's if things get out of hand. I think some dude from L.A sent me the X5F's so we'll see how they do Will for sure let you know how this thing sounds..
Thanks!
BTW. I don't mind the extra low end as long as it's tight I am just concerned about the sustainability and how she wants to feedback??

Looking good Tony!
Any specific reason you use carbon comp resistors esp. on the pi?
Not really it's mainly what I had available in those values. As far as the power supply goes I've used those higher voltage AB's in other amps there since they can take the high surge voltages.I also have a series of Zener diodes placed just after the screens (22k) so the supply should not exceed 450V and catch fire. I had a few left over from the Music Man amp so in they went.
The one in the PI is an IRC "precision" encased CC. They seem to have a nice round' sound to them used in certain spots. I got a batch 820's years ago and have used them in other amps so I thought I would give them a shot. This is the 1st Dumble style amp I have used them in so we will see how it does?
The other spot I used a CC in is the 220K in the loop jacks (ala #124). This was recommended to me by a friend as to a good spot, again we will see.
My feeling is that this amp will be darker smoother and round sounding with plenty of low end and hopefully tighter compared to my other Skyliners. This is what I am shooting for
BTW. I've noticed that Dumble also likes to use the 2w AB's as well for bleeders in some of his older power supply's .They do seem to provide the amp a bit more in the way of a natural compression. I don't know if this directly or indirectly affects the RC time constant vs another resistor type (pulse rate??) or what exactly it does just something I've noticed about amps I've used them in over the years

Tony, I greatly appreciate your sharing about your build and especially the component choices and why. You've been consistently generous in sharing your knowledge and thinking about these great amps. Thanks for your invaluable contributions to the forum and the successes of others.
I truly hope others will share their experience and knowledge when they find "new" current components that they value and how those seem to impact tone.
