Didn't know I cloned a Songwriter.

Post by wpaulvogel »

I built this amp two years ago. After looking at the gut shot of a Songwriter, I discovered similarities. Now mine is 9 watts RMS, uses Russian 6F3P/ECL82 output/phase inverter and 6N2P-EV preamp tubes and has a switchable gain stage with two triodes DCCF and a gain control on the rear panel. Really a simple amp but it really kicks. I have a choke input filter to get 300 volts B+1, I use Zener diodes to drop the screen to 190 volts. I have a series effect loop that works good for ambience. Uses a Hammond 18 watt Marshall output transformer.

After the parallel triode, the coupling capacitor is actually a parallel pair, one is smaller than the other. Both lead to a pot and you blend between the two caps. The pot wiper leads to the volume pot, serving as a gain control and a grid leak. There is a switch that either takes the signal to the phase inverter or takes it to another gain stage/tube with a DCCF.

Now I see: the Silver Mica and the 715 caps.
Thanks!
