A buddy had an empty 2x10 open-back cabinet made for a Princeton Reverb chassis, and asked me to build him an efficient solid state amp that he can power from his LiPoFe battery power supply.
So I made him this:
Tucked in, at left, is a cheap switching 9vDC supply to power the pedal. The pedal is an un-housed BOSS FDR-1. Isn't it convenient that the pots are on a breakout PCB? Easy to attach to the front panel! And I replaced the plastic momentary footswitch with a nice panel mount momentary switch. Next is a Wondom 100w class D amp, powered by a Meanwell 24vDC supply. Everything is housed in a Mojotone Princeton Reverb chassis.
This thing sounds...well, as good as the BOSS pedal, which is pretty good! You can easily bypass the pedal and use this as a power amp. It puts out 64 watts clean into a 4-ohm load, while consuming 82 watts from mains power, or 128 watts into 2 ohms, consuming 156 watts. And at idle, it only wants 2.5 watts!
Total parts cost was about $330.
