Tweedle Dee build
After doing this circuit in an old crappy President combo as a donor, which has been used by guitarist in my band for the past year. Love the sound of it. I did use a large “mystery” HI-Fi OT in that one, so will be interesting to hear what the smallish Hammond AO-43 OT sounds like in this circuit. So decided to scratch build a Tweedle Dee and make a proper cab for it.
Now I understand the reluctance of members to work in such small chassis . Here is progress so far. All criticism welcome.

Thanks Mark. I have been playing my Express exclusively for the past 2 years, but really enjoy this circuit. The type and size of venues we get to play at, really suits a small combo you can drive. I play the express with a VVR installed.

More progress. Finally finished wiring the amp. Will do wiring check for the 10th time and then its time to fire her up. Any glaring mistakes, please feel free to chime in. Added the “cascade gain mod”, ala Robibrite.

Re: Tweedle Dee build
Andre, do the NFB mod it transforms the amp into a softer rounder amp when you add NFB. It's very useful I found. If you're after a snarling monster then don't bother, just turn it up full and go for it

Re: Tweedle Dee build
Thanks Marcus. I play a Express normally, however, it is loud . I don't use pedals, only guitar knobs. The previous Tweedle I built sounds great, but looks like a dog

Ah, in that case I wouldn't bother. The Express was too 'Rock' for meandresound wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 10:45 am Thanks Marcus. I play a Express normally, however, it is loud. I don't use pedals, only guitar knobs. The previous Tweedle I built sounds great, but looks like a dog

 sold it.
sold it.I'm going to do a Princeton reverb next as a grab and go as I put my Tweedle Dee in a separate head /cab. I put 6L6's in mine and use a Cream Alnico 1x12 it's a great amp

Haha, my Tweedle Dee is quite similar - TAD 6L6 STRs w/Vibrolux 35w power/output, Celestion Neo Creamback 12", National 5U4GB to lower B+ to 398v. Such a GREAT amp!!!!norburybrook wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 1:55 pmAh, in that case I wouldn't bother. The Express was too 'Rock' for meandresound wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2019 10:45 am Thanks Marcus. I put switchable NFB on as well. The Alnico cream is just such an amazing speaker, you should try one Rog, not heavy either and is killer with a 50w ODS too.

Re: Tweedle Dee build
I’m in trouble and need help!! Brought amp up on variac first and did some measurements. At a B+ of 290v, I get a plate to cathode of 245v! So...I also get a voltage drop on the cathode resistor (320 ohms) of 46v!! Without the variac, I get 340 B+ and the cathode voltage drop is 57v!! Surely this is not right?
The amp is fused with a 2A fast blow on B+ and 500mA on CT. Not blowing any fuses.

Ouch! That's hot! What is the measured voltage on pin 5?
