This is gonna sound stupid.
I have a non-reissue Blues Deluxe with a burnt-up low voltage supply that I don't seem to be able to fix and a functioning HRDeluxeIII.
I recently bought one of the MonkeyMatic ODS boards to build into one of these chassis. I just can't decide.
Do I
- move unburnt the BlDlx components to the HRD board and put the MMODS in the BlDlx chassis/cab?
- abandon the BlDlx board and Dumbulate that
- continue to futz with the BlDlx and Dumbulate the HRD?
- Move the HRD LV supply components to the BlDlx board? -- this seems to be the way to go. I think.

If I understand correctly, you have a functioning HRDiii and a broken Blues Deluxe. Keep the HRDiii as is, and replace the Blues Deluxe guts with the Monkeymatic board. Seems too obvious. What am I missing?

It's not super clear. I think you're hinting that the bd isn't really fixable, but the hrd is damaged but fixable. Which chassis to use?
I'd choose to do the least amount of work possible. Sounds like gutting the BD is smarter, as it's toast, and put in the ods board there, then you can either buy new components for the HRD and/or scavenge parts from the BD board if needed, but if the BD was toast, it may make more sense to buy new parts rather than risk those being problematic as well. These fender amps are finicky and when things go, often many more go.

Re: Value Decision time
Which ever amp you go with both need the wattage up rated for the PI plate load resistors and the output screen resistors.

Good advice, guys. Thank you.

Hi Don,
The boys have spoken, but I vote to gut that chassis to bare metal, use the Monkeymatic board, and buy all new parts. Anything worth doing is worth doing right.

Re: Value Decision time
Don you have built great amps in the past so we know you can do anything.
I agree with Dave (colossal) above.
