Dumbleator as a Pedal Preamp

Post by SilverFox »

Has anyone ever tried using a modified Dumbleator circuit as a preamp?

It sort of is one. It's used as a drive stage and attenuation all the time.

You could swap parts around and make it do all kinds of stuff.

In a D'lator you have a CF stage and a a CC gain stage you can connect any way you like. However, an MXR microamp or an AMZ MOSFET booster imakes a better clean boost.

This is how I would use it

The idea is to add tube warmth to an amp emulator. (still working on that concept)

Guitar--Emulator--Dumbleator--Mixing Board--Mosfet Power Amp.

The ability to add a little overdrive to the Dumbleator is also desired so maybe it would need a gain stage prior to the input?

Save yourself the time. Plug into the amp and play.
