since were talkin bout guitars now.

Anyone ever try these or heard about their accuracy?
At $70 it doesn't make sense to make even one template myself much less the whole set.
I'd like to see hdf instead of MDF but they wouldn't be 70 bucks then. http://guitarpartcenter.com/electricrouting2.html

Never seen or used those before. My guess is that the 1/4 MDF won't hold up very long. But, they are cheap enough so that if you got one use out of them, that one use could be for making a sturdy set of templates from them.
What?

I was thinking I could coat the edges with some thinned down epoxy then sand it flat to harden the edges.
Half inch would be better
. of course I could use the templates to make some more templates out of hdf
I was really more concerned about the accuracy.

Do not drill the bridge holes until you do the string geometry with the right scale. I bought a set of modern templates that were off by a mile. This also allows you to use your favorite scale length on whatever design you build if you like.

Not sure what you're looking for specifically, but this guy just got started making templates: http://store.potvinguitars.com/

He posts over at ReRanch, and is a pretty darn good builder. His templates use 1/2" MDF, at least.

Where did you get it from?I want ones that are based on measurements taken from an actual vintage guitar.
Thanks for the tip but I would never drill for a bridge without having the neck on and measuring twice. Also I get lucky a lot just eyeballin stuff. if it looks straight it is.
