Rocktron Prochorus line/instrument level switch repair
I have a Rocktron Prochorus that needs a new instrument/line level switch. It seems to want to stay in line level mode? If I push it in slowly, it will catch the higher volume "instrument" level mode, but then drops back down to "line" level mode as I fully depress the switch. I have no idea how one would describe this, so I'm hoping you guys can help me out. Here's a pic of it...

I have no trouble understanding your description. But can't see what might fix it. Is there nowhere to spray contact cleaner?

Thank you for your reply. I lifted the top of the switch (lid) and blasted it with Deoxit, but it had no effect. I'd like to find a replacement switch, but I fear it's a part that is no loner obtainable.xtian wrote:I have no trouble understanding your description. But can't see what might fix it. What did it look like inside? I mean, with something as mechanically simple as a switch, it should be easy to see (or measure, using a DMM) a malfunction, especially if you can open it up!
You should be able to find a replacement on mouser, digikey, or newark. I see these switches in a lot of modern equipment.

Re: Rocktron Prochorus line/instrument level switch repair
I could not remove the entire top. I lifted a section of the top at the end of the switch housing, and sprayed the chit out of it! I also used a DMM to check the circuit matrix in both the in/out positions, but could not find anything wrong. My guess is there are at least 6 x relevant connections, so a proper test may require more knowledge of the circuit.
As I said, I can slowly push the switch in, and it will make a momentary connection to the +4db position... It will also hold that position, just as long as I don't let the switch move from the connection point. When I continue to press the button inward, it drops back down to -10db.
How would I describe such as switch while doing a Mouser search?

Looks like a 6pdt switch

Thanks! I'm going to attempt to contact Jim Chowning to see if he can give me a proper ID on this particular switch.
Re: Rocktron Prochorus line/instrument level switch repair
I just heard from Jim Chowning. He says this should be the correct switch...

Re: Rocktron Prochorus line/instrument level switch repair
Question: How do I order one with 6 x pins per side? The switches range from having 4, 6, 8, 10, etc... pins per unit. I don't see any option that lets me choose the number of pins needed.
Re: Rocktron Prochorus line/instrument level switch repair
Because i was wrong its a 4 pole double throw switch that will determine how many terminals it has
