New Test Equipment and Stereo day!

Post by beasleybodyshop »

Found these at a flea market when i was out visiting my folks a few days ago.

Sorry, images are stock photos, my phone was stolen last week so i couldnt take pictures.

Picked up an Eico 379 signal generator, B&K model 415 Sweep/Marker Generator and a Kenwood Model 4070 stereo receiver for 40 bucks!

Signal generator had its power cord cut off, sure sign that something was wrong with it, oh well, could be fun to recap and calibrate!

I have no clue what to do with the B&K 415. I think it's probably meant for old TV repair - can it be used for radios/tube equipment?

The Kenwood Stereo powers on, everything lights up as well. i plugged my headphones into it and it seems to work ok. Going to recap this one as well and learn about calibrating it. I love these 70s aluminum faced stereo receivers.

If i can't use the B&K for anything, maybe it would be a good project housing for more test equipment, or something? If anyone has any ideas let me know, converting useless test equipment into something cool is fun!

I opened it up. filter caps have sprayed foam all over the bottom. lol. Definitely going to need a recap.

There is several trimmer pots inside this Eico, man! Probably means a very convoluted recalibration process lol.

Xtian, just finished recapping that Eico Signal gen, appears to work well. It has a small lamp inside that I have no clue as to what it's doing. Lol. Probably no need to calibrate this thing for tube amp work, but I might download the manual and do it just for grins.

Awesome!

Yeah, a lamp is part of the circuit in the Eico 377 as well.

Google ' incandescent bulb in oscillator' for explanation.

Thanks!

Here is a pic of the underside. Pretty clean little unit.
