CE Chassis for 50W Dumble--How fit Bassman PT in a Twin hole

Post by David Root »

I've done 50W Dumbles before but not in a CE chassis. The CE chassis is cut and drilled for a BF Twin PT. I have a client who wants a 2nd gen 50W in the CE chassis, as I have a correct look head cab in scarlet suede that he also wants.

I thought about an adapter plate of some kind but the mtg hole centers of both PTs are pretty close together.

Anyone actually done this in the CE chassis? I'm all ears. Maybe rotate the Bassman 90 degrees?? But more cutting needed then.

Just go ahead and use the twin transformer or get Heyboer to build you to your spec with the screw spacing you need.

You should be able to cut the current PT bolt holes into slots to accommodate the 50W PT. That chassis is thick enough (.125") to hold the 50W PT despite the lack of metal due to the larger cutout. Also, use the biggest washers that you can get away with. I had to do this once on a Ceriatone chassis and it worked out fine.
