As fas as I know, the spitfire is a two output tube amp and that would call for a 15 to 20 watt OT with a 6300 primary impedance using EL84 tubes, 4 output tubes would be the 4K OT.

westlab will sell you a replacement spitefire OT fr about 190$, trinity has 18watt OT with a 5k tap, but the best way to go is a magnetic component classictone 18 watt ot and use the 8 ohm tap for 16 ohm speaker and 4 ohm for 8 ohm speaker then you'll be running 4k pri they cost about 40$ kinda hard to beat. classictone 18watt PT will give you about 360 volts on el84 plates with a 5ar4, mark

I've built several amps using these and have been quite happy with them.

West pretty much doubled his tranny prices in these last 3 years. There must be a lot of people all over the planet paying any price to clone a Matchless. Good iron and it will get you an exact sounding clone but too rich for me now, and certainly prohibitive to use for other builds. The Lightning PT was perfect for a Harvard.

Someone else stated here to a similar question, paraphrasing: if you want to build an 18W screamer use what ever you like, if you want to build a Spitfire use the TDS/West iron, and I'll add, and copy as close as possible.

Anyone know whatever happened to TDS? They used to post here now and then, and used to sell iron directly on eBay. And they had a 1/4-ass website that seems to be gone. Again, shame, great iron I was hoping to use for various projects down the road.
