The Elio

Post by Structo »

Have any of you heard about this new vehicle, the Elio?

The Elio, is classified as a motorcycle due to it having only three wheels.

84 mpg

5 star crash rating

Cheap insurance

Best part is, it is projected to cost only $6,800 when production starts next year.

Looks way cool.
Wonder how it does in the snow?
4wd is a good thing around here in Winter.
In the UK most cars are tiny now compared to here.
And diesel is a lot more popular.
8-10 bucks a gallon gas will do that.
It's only a matter of time.
Unfortunately.

84 MPG would be nice but I can still fit 5 people comfortably in my Prius plus there is still storage in the back.

I wouldn't buy any 1st generation vehicle though. I wait for the second gen so they can work out the bugs.

Yes I believe this is a two passenger "car".

But imagine it for the college student or a single person in an urban area.

Tom's right. It's because coffins are so highly regulated that they cost so much, but so little regulation that they are inexpensive. They require airbags but no seat belts. Add $3300 and subtract $570, except in California and NYC.

Also, red. Seven miles to the gallon (if you don't open up the secondaries very often). Seatbelts unused since the 60s. 4000 pounds of mass for an inertial "safety" factor. :)
