Can someone explain this?
Is this a schematic typo? Look at the .002uf/470k filter coming off the V1A plate. Theres a coupler, then this filter but theres a bypass around it basically voiding it's effect. If the bypass was switched i'd get it, but it isn't. I keep staring at it trying to see if i'm spacing. What am i missing, or is it a typo?

It's most likely a schematic error. The sound would be brighter for sure if the short were removed. So maybe a bright switch was supposed to be where the short is.

It's bypassed to sort of dampen the effect of the filter... J/K 
Yep, it's a mistake. Looks like maybe the person drawing it was in a bit of a hurry. Note the bright/normal switch; it doesn't need to be double throw switch unless there's something I'm missing about it. The same arrangement is used in the lower preamp drawing but I don't see any benefit in doing it that way.

That's there to prevent blatant design stealing. The JTM45 would have had that if the Bassman did.

Some times the same PCB is used for more than one model in the MFG of a brand.
It could also be jumper on the PCB depending on the model...
