I'm in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!! - kinda.....
Just found out a gig poster from a gig I did opening for U2 on their first US tour was on display at the RR Hall of Fame. We were a blues based rock band based in Omaha called Jonesin'. It was a "punk" audience in Ames, Iowa that was so not into us. We played for what seemed like forever - then they came out and did 35 minutes. Their encore was more of a reprise. They repeated a couple tunes they had already played.
Our name was misspelled on the poster, of course. Back then - it seemed no one knew what jonesin' was or meant. One of our band posters was a description so we wouldn't have to explain to the audience. We were all in a car outside a record store way back then and a bass player friend came upon us. He said, "Man, you guys look like you're jonesin'". New band name was born. Only to be enshrined in the Hall of Fame - misspelled........

Oh, that IS cool.
I'm getting a little U2 fix this Sunday, playing Beautiful Day in church. I don't have a Gibson Explorer, but my Agile LP is doing the trick.
Congrats on being in the Hall!

Back then it was just another macaroni dinner in my belly - now it's a claim to fame.
My brother was the drummer in that band. He was trying to help Larry Mullen tune his drums. His heads were so badly dented up that he just gave him some duct tape to put on them. He yelled at the road manager - "I need new drum heads!". The shout back was - I just bought some last month. I imagine he can afford drum heads now...........

Very cool. I've built, repaired and set up amps that wind up on records. But no one ever knows I was there. Even getting in the HOF sideways is awesome!

Cool!
Don't you hate it when somebody misspells your name and it is enshrined in history?
