I have a 1966 black face head that has been modded (not by me) it was hacked by someone else and I have since hacked it more. the normal channel is stk fender 6G6a layout. http://www.prowessamplifiers.com/schema ... ayout.html
the bass channel is a Marshall 2204 layout. http://ceriatone.com/images/layoutPic/m ... iatone.jpg
Everything sounds great and I have gigged with the amp , so no problems. my question is, would it sound better if I used both sides of the Phase inverter (like my 18 watt marshall) or does it not matter? right now I have both channels sharing the one side of the PI like fender had it. Thanks
fender bassman head ?

Re: fender bassman head ?
Are you using global negative feedback around the power amp?
Re: fender bassman head ?
yes the nfb is just like the layout on the fender (56K resistor) Thats a problem right? my 18 watt uses no feedback. thanks for the time on this
Re: fender bassman head ?
Yes Are the two channels in phase with each other? If so, you're golden. Make sure the bias circuit has been modded to normal. I was just in one of these for the first time. I didn't know about that strange design. I suppose with really good mid-60s tubes, it wasn't a problem.jamme61 wrote:Thats a problem right?
Re: fender bassman head ?
no they're out of phase? I did change the bias, so I can bias the amp.
Re: fender bassman head ?
Is the 6G6A channel the normal one or the bass one?jamme61 wrote:no they're out of phase? I did change the bias, so I can bias the amp.
Re: fender bassman head ?
yes fender is the normal channel / bass channel is the marshall side
