Well it appears to be a Fender 2 channel chassis convert.

The guitar's string-to-string out put is really unbalanced?

The cleans are very vibrant in the video, figured the donor amp to be a bassman, showman, dual showman or twin mod amp by the width of the chassis, its slanted in and the position of the pilot lamp was the big give away.

Last week I picked up a 68' Dual showman, thought it Might be a good cannidate for this mod if I can find out what the mod is otherwise i might just convert it to something else, limitless amount of D-style possibilities.

Structo, are you saying that the "Cool Mod" is the same as the Ultraphonix Mod? Or are you just suggesting a Dumble-style mod to a Fender amp?

I would suggest that you use the search function. There has been a lot of discussion about this and there is no simple answer.

AFAIK, the Ultraphonix mods are pretty much unknown, that there's a Youtube clip and a review that UltraHookedOnPhonix did, but no one here at The Amp Garage has been inside of one. Just thought Structo maybe knew something I didn't.

My '67 Twin Reverb was looking over my shoulder and is now giving me funny looks from the other side of the room.

I can't clarify exactly what an Ultra Pheonix Mod is out of respect to the owner but, I can give you a rough idea:

Each channel is in fact independent just like the amp would be stock

Each channel is significantly different from the other, one has more gain (BM derived) , one is much cleaner (Classic tonestack derived)

All the regular functions of the amp were still there (Verb, Trem) but, they just sounded better w/ a broader tone spectrum, Verb was not overly splashy but tight and articulate, very dynamically organic sounding. the trem was Bias Modulated not an opto roach.

The amp was an Ultra Pheonix mod Bandmaster Reverb (with 2 EL34's)

Ftsw'able PAB for each ch.

That's all folks.......

Hope that helps

On another note although, search the Hotel hog, study the pics, they'll certainly point you towards that direction.

My Ultraphonix amps have what he calls deep dish tremolo, they use the opto bug.

I'll try and post some clips of my version of the Ultra Phoenix in the next few days here.

It's 50w, has a dual Ftsw. for a dedicated Preamp Boost for each channel, external Bias points and Bias Trim on the back panel.

Here it is:
