I am a newbe and am gathering parts for an express build and I have a few questions.
1. Going to uses apex Jr solid 20 teflon wire. What colors and what lengths do I need? Have seen all the pics of builds on site. The wire is expensive and just do not want to buy more than I really need.
2. How tall are the board standoffs?
3. Which speaker and input jacks do you prefer the switchcraft that Ken used or the Marshall style ? Who makes the best jacks?
4. Read a thread where someone mentioned using a dpdt for the bright switch and mounting the mica caps directly on the switch instead of the way Ken did it. Has anybody done this? Have pics or drawings?
Thanks for any help and/or suggestions.
Tim

Re: Parts 4 Express
Welcome to the board
The question you need to ask is "Is this going to be an exact clone? If so, the best bet is to look at the files section for the Franscesca pics for colors layout ect.
1. BTW- the wire Apex Jr. sells is teflon not PVC, so if your going for an exact clone this is not the right wire. However, Steve is a great guy and I used his wire in my last two builds and have been very happy.
2. I'll differ this question to Allynmey
Mine are between 1/4-3/4 off the chassis.
3. I believe they are switchcraft. Check the pics.
4. I mounted and used Ken's layout for the bright switch and like it.
Cranking a Strat using the "bright switch" yeilds some killer tones! My favorite setting.
If you use Moose for Tranny's, Dana or Allynmey for boards. Allynmey's and Steve's store for mallory caps/ resistors you will be in great shape. All have great prices as well.
I also know you will find everyone here is an enthusiast and will be glad to help you with your questions. We hava all had them before. Lord know's I have.

Re: Parts 4 Express
Thanks for the welcome Keith. I am not going to build an exact copy similar to Omars . Willing to make some changes due to better knowledge and products. Ken used Swichcraft and so did Omar. I see a few members using the marshall style and wanted to know preferences and why they prefered them. I will be using ceritone chassis and moose trannys,on the list for Dana boards. Have ordered which were listed as mallory caps for the TC75&78,PVC(601,612,622),and for the smaller caps to replace the rubycons will see what happens when I recieve them.Just sweating the small details now.Thank alot for the info!!
