Just looking at the Express schematic and I was wondering why it needs so much filtering?
Looking at a typical Fender AB763 super,it uses two series caps,a choke and three 22uf caps for the entire amp.
The express drops the voltage down after the standby with a 1K resistor then through a series or caps and resistors for one less plate pair than the super. Is all this really necessary?

Express filtering
Crystal latice or vacuum, that is the question.

Ken just doubled up on the plates and screens to help keep the output section tighter when pushed...34's have a wimpy screen supply so it's usually a good idea to have at least 40uf on the screens on a pair of 34's otherwise you get ghost notes appearing at high volumes..6L's have a much more stout screen supply so 20uf usually does the trick..
Hope This Helps!!

Re: Express filtering
I went from 47uf to 33uf on the screens and prefer BC 450v in this position

Re: Express filtering
We just fired up a 6V6 express last night and we have a few things to do yet.We didn't have enough components to do the fixed bias supply so we got it up and running cathode biased. The volume pot must have been linear because it's like a hair-trigger,either on or off.
The amp is a little gainiac! It does clean up nicely with the guitar volume and doesn't lose any highs which is a bonus.
We used old Garnet iron from a Garnet Reverb amp that has two 6V6's.
It sounds pretty damn good.
I say 'we' because I have a young lad who wanted to build this one himself. He kept saying to me how easy it looks and he could do it himself.Cocky kid but a real pro player.after correcting the mistakes he made,he has a nice little amp.
