Single Ended Amp Build "Tramp"

Post by ChrisM »

Well not so much of a build thread but here it is anyways...

This is a little single ended amp design from local amp company here called Trinity Amps. The amp is single channel with one 12AX7 and one power tube. The amp can take 6V6, 6L6, EL34, KT66, 5881 and more. Two modes Tweed and Tude. Tweed is a nice clean sound. Pull the volume pot for Tude mode which produces a great OD tone. A huge range of tones are covered with just two tubes. Great sounds!

Also includes Treble, Bass, Master Volume and a Power Scaling controls. The Bass control also has a pullable Fat Switch. The back panel has speaker outputs, a bias switch for different tube types, a rotary switch for 4R, 8R and 16R output with 2.5K and 5K primaries selectable for each tap. I also added a mod for footswitch for a partial tonestack lift. This adds volume/gain and mids.

Cab is solid pine, box joints. No tolex but stain and varnish. Grill cloth is "wheat".

Speaker is a 10" Jensen Blackbird, a very nice balanced AlNiCo speaker. Very impressed with it, still breaking it in.

I use this amp at school. Its the perfect size as its a fairly small combo. I have a 6V6 in it now so its not too loud at around 6W. Plus I can dial in how loud it is and what tone I want with the Volume, Master Volume and Power Scaling Control. Finished it literally a few hours before leaving to go back to school today.

Another Tramp I built (not mine) sitting beside my then incomplete amp.

Very nice amp :)

Trinity has been building good amps for awhile and I reference their schematics and layouts from time to time.

Thanks!

No it wasn't a kit. Bit different parts and mods than what is usually done on stock/kit builds.
