Just a heads up I saw this on ebay.

TC Electronics Nova System with the G Switch included ($50 value).

No affiliation, just thought it was a good deal.

$500 new at Muscians Friend.

Considered best delay and reverb by many.

I've seen it for as low as $349 new so it shouldn't go a lot higher.

new the company stands by their products very strong.

I'm not sure they give to winks about a used product.

It's not a horrible deal but my gut instict says over $200 ... pass

TC electronics makes some amazing DSP (delay 2290, and a couple stomp box reverbs and a studio Larc, other products are a miss.. other then hitting a price point. M-one / D-two).

Not to say this means anything but I've never seen or worked with anyone playing the NOVA.

I am not sure what you mean by a miss. I have an M-One XL and I think it is a great unit. It has awesome verbs, great chorus, and very good delays. I have the vaunted SCF and the chorus in the M-One XL is every bit as good. Granted there are some effect that are not so good. I don't use the parametric and dynamic sections because they are not so good.

I don't own, but I have used the Nova system. Great delays.

I am curious. What are your specific complaints regarding any of these units?

I picked up a TCE G Sharp a while back for a good price.

It is like a entry level G Major.

I'm very happy with the sound quality.
It's a small unit, rack type that I just sit on top of my D'lator.

my complaints are stickly from a professional point of view. They work great for most consumer needs but, for the most part are only good for one or two patches. Personally I seldom use the factory presets and base my judgement on what the unit can actually do when I get inside the parameters and start to tinker. They just are not up to my expectations, I felt over all the top end and image where not my cup of tea. TC electronics does know great delay the 2290 is one of the all time best digital delays ever made! equal to the Lexicon Prime time and PCM42.
I could never get the D-two to mimic the 2290. The factory preset is a joke, when you A/B them side to side. I owned a stereo pair of the first generations M-one and D-two which I sold off a few years back since they never got used. It could be that the first generation was not as good as the new XL and the issues have since been corrected? For the price both units are a nice live setup but IMHO not studio worthy when sound quality matters.

I did some searching it looking like the Nova System sells for an average of $325 on the used market. Prices on craigsist in the USA $300-$350. Ebay the same. plus new from $449.

Thanks for elaborating about the TC stuff and your views. I am certainly not a pro audio engineer, so I don't REALLY know the shortcomings of the TC stuff we have been discussing vs 'pro' gear. I guess I only know that I have no complaints about some of the effects in the gear mentioned.

I guess I'll have to remain in the dark for now. What else is new?

you are correct, for what the M-one and D-two were designed for they are very good. both are entry level consumer audio pieces. I like TC electronics and use their products almost daily. The NOVA system looks cool but on a professional level I have yet to work with one. with that said I'll probably see one next week lol.

argue? how so? the footswitch sweetens the deal for sure. isn't it a starting bid? so it'll probably go higher at the last moment.

I just recently purchased the Nova system used on CL and paid $350. Sales receipt shows it was purchased back in April of this year. The previous owner upgraded the patch to the latest version.

After figuring out how to use it and program it, I have made many of my own configurations and am quite satisfied with the sound quality for the price. It may not be quite as good as units costing $1k-$2k but for the price it does a great job.

One of the main complaints I've heard about it is the distortion/overdrive effects. Yet, after some tweaking, I found them to be not too bad at all, hardly noticeable from a decent sounding stomp box.

That said, I have a FET Dream which sounds incredible and can be used in conjunction with the Nova giving me more possibilities of distorted/overdriven tones.

So far, I really like this unit and have rehearsed with it a couple of times. For example, I've created a preset for "Long Cool Woman" which makes it sound more like the original recording as opposed to no effects at all. For a typical classic rock dance band, it adds a whole new dimension to our sound. The rest of the band were quite impressed and stated that it gave new life to the song. At first, they were thinking of dropping the tune but now they want to keep it in the repertoire.

I'll be taking it to our next gig and giving it a the full test.
