You're probably looking at the Ceriatone schematic or layout, which is incorrect but chosen to suit the values readily available.

A proper Rocket has 3x 40uF and 3x 20uF capacitors in the power supply.

You need a minimum of 5 capacitors to properly filter each node, so you could get away with a 80uF, 40uF, 20uF, 20uF 20uF can cap if you could find one like that or the closest available values.

Can Caps

Post by Bob S »

I've used cans on 2 builds - (1) 32/32/32 & (1) 40/20/20/20 (JJ).
3 * 32 uF = 96 uF on B+ actually reads 88uF.
Works fine & easy to do.

The original used two 40 µF in // (80 µF) for plates, 40 µF for screens, 3 x 20 µF for PI and preamp/TS. Five nodes, two grounds.

Three possible nodes with a common ground. Won't work.
