I put the mike where my ear usually is. Way different sound than micing the speaker, but more of what I am hearing. The note definition might be a bit better if it had a hair less delay.

Tried JJ ECC83 S but me no likey (too middy). I have older GT's in V1, V2 and newer EH in the loop and PI. I have some old RCA grey plates that I am saving that sound slightly better than the GT's. Also an RCA in the PI is a bit better than the EH, but not by much. An EH or RCA in the PI both sound better in this amp than the Sovtek LPS that seems so popular for that position.
