Design software

Post by 73GTV »

I'm new to this site and was interested in some of the design software example that i see within these post. Rating each from easiest to use to most technical detail, which software would you suggest and why.

I liked anasoft.co.uk SuperSpice enough to buy the Gold license.
Good for simulations, but as a schematic capture tool it doesn't (didn't) print very well and forget layout.

I use KiCAD for those two tasks - it's free and pretty effective.

Hope this helps!

So it handles inputing the cad symbols for tubes or tube bases. I want to modify a few older circuits after I retest the circuit to record my values. So it handles vacuum tubes symbols? Layout board previews, component placement software?

Any layout program worth its salt will handle vacuum tube symbols or anything else that you can draw. EagleCad is my choice for most layouts because once you get past the learning curve, you can turn out quality boards quickly.

I ese Altium Designer for simulation, they have a good amount of models built in and it's quite powerful. Quite expensive to buy at something like $10,000 a year.

Well, now that a few years have passed since I asked about the Tube design software.. Which software would you now recommend based on your personal experience and ease of use?

My council for a Free very friendly CAD to draw schematics and PCB

without the need to read the (available) manual in half an hour I was able to draw my first schematic :D

is a new independent version of Fidocad

FidocadJ, it is a multi platform version based on the standard Fidocad program that increases the performance of his ancestor

FidocadJ is in constant progress and the new version is disposable here
