use an external A/B switch. Far easier than trying to modify the pedal for true bypass.
Re: True By-Pass for Boss TU-2
Well aside from modding your tuner you can make a pedal that switches it in and out from the signal chain.
Here is a layout for a looper switch.
Just copy the part of the circuit where the tuner part is.
If you don't want or need the led part, just omit it.
Some other links that may help.

Re: True By-Pass for Boss TU-2
I've built a couple AB switches and have never been able to avoid the pop. I didn't look at Structo's diagram...I do know that one mistake people make is to tie LEDs into the actual ground when all you want is a return path to the battery. There's no reason for the battery to be grounded.
Re: True By-Pass for Boss TU-2
I built one of RG's transformer isolated AB boxs awhile back and it doesn't pop. A little bit at really high amp gain you can hear it, but at normal levels it's pretty good.
Re: True By-Pass for Boss TU-2
I swapped my TU-2 for a Korg Pitchblack. Better more acurate tuner ... true bypass ... easier to see ... and it's cheap (cheaper than a TU-2 actually). Very good purchase.

Re: True By-Pass for Boss TU-2
my A/B switches don't pop. But I am not trying to use them to "true bypass" a device. The key is to switch ground onto the unused output. So if you are switching to "B", then ground "A". Dunno if this will solve your problems, but all of my amps ship with external A/B switches to switch channels and I've never had a complaint about popping.
