I've got it now, but I had to wrap my head in aluminum foil for an hour before it came to me.

			OK, I just gatta.
I've heard they sound better with the stripy end north.....
First ya need a compass, then you need to orientate the thing. Does north stay north when you flip the chassis over or does it all go south
What about the guts in Australia
Does the arrow go on the other end of the compass needle

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.

Unless the volume pot is on full, the output from the pot is going to be lower than the input, so if you're going to introduce any noise, the signal/noise ratio will be higher if the noise is introduced at the input rather than the output.
The two caps left hanging when the switch is in the middle position will be a more effective antenna than the short piece of wire to the middle lug of the switch, so this method of wiring definitely makes sense.
I'm not going to swap mine round to quantify the difference though!

You're thinkin' right, Gary, but it's how you STORE the resistors that counts
You need to align your little plastic storage drawer or envelope north to south, with the "little stripy end" north
After one year, it's permanently polarized unless you play at the North Pole

OK, Tim and I have made the changes that have been noted and I cleaned up several things on the layout.
I will make another thread to announce the changes for the Express and Liverpool that we just completed.
Now, where is that tin foil???
Ron

So should we assume that from now on all layout diagrams will include a compass rose?
