Hoffman carries excellent quality turrets at a very decent price such as .15, .13, & .11.

1+ for the hoffman turrets, and his eyelets are great too, I've also bought turrets from ebay from china 500=71$ shipped for giant double turrets but i've found two different sizes in the same batch and other odd things like a half turret, non chromed turrets, A large batch of standoff is my next need mine are running low anyone know where to order a large batch from?

This is what I've been doing as well. Does anyone know where to get the same type thing, but with eyelets? I know that a lot of folks sell eyelet boards for specific circuits, but any generic ,say, 30x2rows out there?

Btw all this stuff is on sale right now at AES

Besides Turrets and eyelets you can also use terminal strips and a new item I just started stocking, Tag boards

Just pry up the tabs and solder away

after 50 builds or so with turrets/eyelets/combos - Ive come to prefer eyelets.

that said I use both - eyelets for most stuff, turrets for power connections, relays, stuff to hook up later, or components I want to put 'out of plane' with the rest.

they both have a purpose - 1 doesnt sub for the other when it comes to convenience of tuning the amp. exelets are cleaner, quicker to build with, and more compact.
it really is a journey, and you just cant farm out the battle wounds

my pulse quickened when I read this email today as well. Going to integrate them into my amps as soon as I run through my current stock of double turrets. Sweet!

I was thinking I could now use 3 different size turrets and several eyelet types to keep things wired nice on my boards, you know that layered look. :)

Not too bad, although the filter caps don't fit on the two inner terminals. Other than that, I haven't run into any real problems...yet. Still just mounting components, though.
I was using boards like the one from Weber and they are just OK. I think they are not as nice as a real turret board. (Also, you can buy the same board on eBait direct from China for half the price, postage included.)

I found for about $10 you can buy a real generic turret board: http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-HTUR-60 I used one of these in my last build and liked it a lot better and it is worth the extra few dollars. Because it has lots of unused holes, I was able to add a few turrets in key locations to make it more suitable for my needs. Of course, YMMV.

One thing I don't want to do is drill and stake my own board. The fiberglass is supposed to be carcinogenic if you breathe it in, and I don't have the proper dust collection system to be working with it. Once in a while I drill an extra hole keeping the drill at slow speed to control the flying dust. It is wise to wear a proper mask when drilling.
I have a few of those and they are quite nice. They have the 2mm and 3mm turrets as well http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/S-HTUR-B
and blank boards in 2 and 3mm http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-HTUR-C

don't waste your time on the cheap boards http://www.tubesandmore.com/products/P-HTUR-A not very good
I Agree, the P-HTUR-D (Blue), P-HTUR-E (Green), and P-HTUR-F (Yellow) are very good boards, 189 holes and sized at 258 x 60 x 2mm. These are good boards, however the P-HTUR-A cheap board for $2.95 are bad because the two outer holes are the correct size, but the middle section of holes are damaged in production which is why the cost is so low for them. Just thought I would chime in since yesterday i had my boards delivered and they are in front of me as I post this statement.

I also have that Black board from China from Ebay for about $10.00 bucks which has a nice painted surface, but are longer than the those boards, 300 x 60 x 2mm. The turrets from China (2.60 mm) will fit both boards however the ones from Antique will not fit the boards from China. (2.90 mm wide)
(I Just measured each turret.)

I use these boards a lot: P-HTUR-D (Blue), P-HTUR-E (Green), and P-HTUR-F (Yellow) and the red boards. I think the red board is thicker.

I have to drill out all my holes as I design the layouts. But I'm so used to it that I don't even think about it much anymore.

I need another burnt out motor drill press for cheap so I can load one drill press for eyelets and the other for turrets. I get lazy.

I've never noticed problems with the center section of the cheaper boards. I only use eyelets, never turrets. Just push them in, and use a tool to swage them.
