Oh man, I had a Boss pedal similar to that in the early 80's. It was horrid. I ended up giving it away to the neighbor kid in the mid-90's.....

I also subbed in a 250k pot for the NFB resistor (with a permanent 22k) for many NFB options. Very handy!
Oh I got that too (it's my experimenting amp I guess). Turns out I like a little less NFB that stock, but just a little less.
No NFB at all was fun for a while, but it just tries to take too much space in the spectrum that way
also try decreasing gain pot to 250k to keep noise down

Oh, noise is currently not at an issue. The current 2204 is a single-channel, so I leave it set at "AC/DC" gain all the time and we don't hear a peep on stage when I'm not playing.

Might be different on the new build in the "clipped" mode though since volume will have to be increase to compensate.

Interestingly, the only Dual Rectifier amps I've liked where the original ones with 1M gain pot (which have since been dropped to 250k). I guess there are other changes too, but looking at the schematic the smaller pots where the most noticeable difference I could see.
Amplifiers built:
Marshall 2204 head with some mods
Low-power 2204 (cathode biased 6V6s)
Single-knob dual-6K6GT amps using a Wattkins uPCB
AC30 clone with Plexified preamp section
AX84 Firefly

Pay attention that if you change the shelving filter between the 1st and 2nd gain stage, you'll change the overall sound of the amp.
