Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Ron here is the other graphic I have on the sockets and tube pinouts. As for the Jacks , I agree that the 6 pin give you a more physical connection to the board but both jacks are also secured by a panel mount in addition to the board. The part number I have on the input jack is Mouser 550-12202.
Hope that helps

Thanks Dana, this helps immensely! I've just never dealt with the small tubes before...
Here's a final BOM for the group, I think however that Dana is going to provide his own BOM in his documentation that comes with the amp kits....

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
I did my grounding a little different than what I saw in Dana's pics- I ran the CT's to grounding lugs by the IEC connector (like the Express) and a jumper from those lugs to the PS board.
I don't think that it makes any difference electrically, but knowing how strange grounding paths can be, anybody have an opinion on if this setup is OK??
Here's some porn to ponder...

Yea me too. I only had a couple early in the evening about 9:30 (drank Pepsi the rest of the night) as I knew I had to drive in Ohio and sure enough I had a small town peace officer (looked like a kid in his early 20s) pull me over about 12:30am because he said I didn't come to a full stop at a stop sign (BS excuse to get someone with out of state tags and check them for DUI). He kept giving me shit and I finally asked for a breathalizer which I passed with flying colors. He sent me on my way with only a verbal warning.drhulsey wrote:José Cuervo is a friend of mineUR12 wrote: ... I'm heading out for the evening to catch a couple of bands and to consume some Jose'...
The bands were great! The first was a bunch of old farts like me that I have known for years. They do everything from Hank Williams to ACDC
The second (at a different club) was a friend of my son who I have'nt seen since he was about 15. He is 35 now (makes ya feel even older). I use to drive them around to band practice every week because none of them were old enough to have drivers license
My next outing will be in two weeks when my son's band opens up for Pop Evil. That should be a good time and it is close enough I can call a cab

I like getting out every weekend or so and checking out the local talent. We have a lot of fun.

Gotta watch the Senior Jose, he can make you feel like you are getting Chemo treatment....
Mark, I'm not sure where this amp will be applied.... somewhere indoors for sure... I think the Express is not a house friendly beast..

I had the same thing happen to me after a gig. The cop... sorry... Police officer said I was weaving a little (hadn't had a drink for hours). I wanted to say, "Look, boy! Everything between that center line and this outer line is mine. I can drive on any and all of it if I want to!" But I didn'tUR12 wrote:... sure enough I had a small town peace officer (looked like a kid in his early 20s) pull me over about 12:30am because he said I didn't come to a full stop at a stop sign...
That sounds like us playing a gig in Henderson, KY, last night... early this morning... whatever, on the other end of the Ohio River from you. In fact, we did that songRichie wrote: check these old guys..

Re: 2w Sub Miniature Express
Well, I fired her up..... no smoke!!!
Then I installed the tubes (that IS a tad tedious).... and fired her up again... no smoke, but...
Seems that I have a bad Preamp tube- it does not light up, so no heater action there. I switched it into each preamp socket, and the issue followed it, so I think that I have a bad tube, eh?

I'll try and get you another in the mail in the morning. I'll shoot you a PM. I probably should have mentioned this but you have to be very carefull about bending the leads coming out of the tubes. You need to stay about 1/8th of an inch from the base of the tube before you start bending or you may risk breaking the seal between the glass and the wire. I picked this little tidbit up from the tube data sheet the other day.Ron Worley wrote:Well, I fired her up..... no smoke!!!![]()

Important safety tip, campers!!! I must have man-handled the tube getting the leads aligned... dang it!UR12 wrote:

I installed the spring clip type of sockets, which don't seem to want to hold the tubes very well.... should I remove these sockets and put in the machined type???
