Hey, looks pretty good. Just throwing out an idea here. If you can clamp it together and hit the corners with a router and round over bit, then disassemble and stain the sides darker than the top and bottom, it would make those dovetails stand out. You could do it subtle using something like dark cherry and medium cherry and it would look sweet:

I have an Incra Router Table Fence that can do some pretty wild things with dovetails and finger joints:

But for sixty shipped, that's pretty sweet even if you sprayed it with truck bed liner.

The cab came apart without any problems after dry fitting. I think your idea would work fine. Radiusing 3/8" might be a little much for 5/8" stockLeftyStrat wrote: ...Just throwing out an idea here...
The wood isn't unattractive. It just doesn't have a consistent cherry color. There's even a little flame on one piece

Some more info on the DrawerCab...
If you decide to order... the dimensions must be in decimal form, so from Dr. Hulsey's dimensions...
9-3/4H x 8-7/8W x 18-3/8D drawer
equals
9.75Hx 8.875W x 18.375D
If you'd like to saw off the 1/4" groove for the drawer bottom, it's 3/4" from the outside edge of the drawer to the inside of the groove. So add that to your dimensions (depth or width depending...).
If you want to keep the drawer bottom groove (sounds like a song eh?)
I remember seeing a luthier website that had some 1/8" inlay that would make the groove decorative, but I can't seem to locate it now.
If you use the drawer bottom for the front of the cabinet, the switches seem to just be at the edge.
There are a lot of possibilities, and it certainly is not of the same calibar ofthe cabinets that you see here on this site, but it sure makes an economical road cab to spare the show cab.
So the DrawerCab would be like your work pants, and a "real" cab your dress pants.

Economical "road" cabs will make their debut here around Tuesday. Expect a brown tolex 'Wreck cab at a really reasonable price.jem wrote:There are a lot of possibilities, and it certainly is not of the same calibar ofthe cabinets that you see here on this site, but it sure makes an economical road cab to spare the show cab.

Actually, I posted it in fractions because that's what the invoice showed. I did order it in decimal form. My dimensions did not include removing the drawer bottom groove. I think a front panel of 5/8-3/4" would stabilize the cab a great deal.jem wrote:... the dimensions must be in decimal form...
Don't you know the order department at Woodcraft wonders why so many people need a drawer of these dimensions

Re: TW amp cabinet source???
I finished the cab made from the Woodcraft custom drawer. I used a 1/4" radius on the outer corners. The front panel I made from 1/4" textured ABS panel over 1/2" oak. I roughed up the wood surface with 80 grit, cleaned it with xylene, and applied a textured finish of Duplicolor truck bed liner (available at AutoZone and Advance Auto Parts). It's a little different from Linex, Herculiner, etc. It is polyvinyl without rubber granules rather than polyurethane with rubber granules. It leaves about the same texture rolled on with a coarse foam roller. You don't have to worry about keeping the granules evenly suspended with this product. I applied 3 coats and used maybe 1/3 of a quart. Some of the off-roaders don't like Duplicolor as well as Herculiner over metal, but I plan to be ON-STAGE instead of OFF-ROAD
I want to try Herculiner, also. I think these are GREAT protective finishes for working cabs, IMHO
If you don't think these type finishes are tough, watch the Linex video:

I have to say, that looks a hell of a lot better than you'd think a bed-liner coated cabinet would look. I love the engine-turned metal faceplate. Nice job!

Looks great, thanks for posting. So when are you going to do the "Traynor Test?"

"And talk about rugged. To test the strength of his products, Traynor would throw them from the roof of a three-storey building."
Actually when I watched the video, that concrete block reminded me of an amp head.

It doesn't look very different from commercial cabs I've seen with a textured finish. It's just meant to be functional. Momma ain't gonna put her silver in itBrad737 wrote:... that looks a hell of a lot better than you'd think a bed-liner coated cabinet would look....

Now, I'm working on a mesh back panel

Very cool there dr
Re: TW amp cabinet source???
Well, I got the back panel finished. I used the bottom that came with the drawer, did a little scroll saw work, and added some aluminum mesh. I think it fits the theme
I've just set it in the back of the amp. I have to put a few small battens in for attachment.
