I keep breaking standby switches....

Not necessarily your exact problem but I had an amp that the choke wires were shorted by some low hanging leads from above. It made it seem as if the standby switch was shorted when in fact it was not. It drove me nuts until I figured it out. Just check everything around it just in case!

Thanks, everyone! So an update here.. I think my issue is with the bat/internals of the Carling switches with the typical DPDT design. I was able to "fix" the "broken" switches I had by wiggling the bat side to side and the internals fixed. I consistently did not have issues with Carling's Fender SPST https://www.amplifiedparts.com/products ... older-lugs so I think this is something with the DPDT design.. That said, I am going to investigate the NKK switches. I just got a batch of their mini toggles in and I'm very impressed. Thank you all for your input.

Side note - I'm definitely going to remove the standby on my projects that I have more control (aka, not trying to clone something)

NKK switches are definitely way better quality but so is cost.

Never had a new Carling Fender switch go bad like that and I've used a lot of them.
I have replaced many in old Fender amps I've serviced that did work well anymore.
