Re: SS power amp
Don't. Add a temperature proportional speed controller for the fan instead, with something like this: https://www.mouser.com/ds/2/268/21448c-63501.pdf
Re: SS power amp
You can choose the power amp to have the power you need at the impedance your cabs are set, then you can choose even a smaller power supply.norburybrook wrote: ↑Tue Mar 13, 2018 10:06 amdoes it need a 4 ohm speaker to perform at it it's best? that put me off as I never use single 4 ohm speakers.
Don't forget that you can find modules with integrated power supply (I will show you my latest one DAC and class D power supply in the same enclosure).

Re: SS power amp
The price of this module jumped up alot during the last years, but this is the module I was talking about:

I use it with the DAC for my Klipsch.
Will take some photos when I'll be back home.

Re: SS power amp
I’m still enjoying the performance of the amp I built into my 2x12 cab, but the idea of assembling it on an aluminum backplate was short sighted—too many rattles. Going to have to rebuild or make external to cab.

Re: SS power amp
Oops, I did it again. Built the same SS amp and PSU into a nice 1x12, solid pine Fender cabinet with a Jensen neodymium Jet Tornado. Great sound, 27 pounds.

This is an interesting discussion indeed. And quite timely, as I have come to the same conclusion:

Just one thing xtian, I'd put the modules on the top (or sidetop) side, in order to avoid to collect too much dust.
