Ah yes, Mr. Grimwoods "Everything you didn't know that you wanted to know about screen grids". It's best consumed in small bites but well worth the effort.
Different opinions have been voiced regarding Zener screen grid feed over past years. My first mention of this was on Powerscaling forum in 2008 if I'm not mistaken.
Anyway, I agree with Mr. Grimwoods main objection to using Zeners:
A real danger with the series Zener Diode configuration is that if the diode breaks down and short-circuits then full supply voltage will be applied directly to the Screen-Grid. This may destroy the tube in the process.
We can always put a 25mA or 50mA fuse in series with each screen grid.
As applied to guitar amps, the effect of Zener fed screen grids perhaps is not directly noticed by accidental listeners ears but translates to the feel of the amp as experienced by the not so accidental player.
As in all our tone chasing endeavors the motto should be:
"If it sounds and feels good then it's good! - make it safe and reliable."

Uspatoffskyvitz may have coordinated with EU and anyone they want at the "executive" level, but still looks to me like they could improve a lot where 'the rubber meets the road.' There's that saying 'In theory . . . ' I'm sure we've all heard and it's twoo it's twoo....

No matter, I won't be manufacturing any time soon.

Any chance you could draw a picture or schematic on how your talking about running that. It sounds very interesting , being able to drop some voltage off of B+ to the screens would be very helpful at times. Ive also found amps that are articulate and unforgiving help you to be a better player.
Thanks Bill
