Just a really stupid question here but have you at least tried elevating the speaker to your ear level? I know when i play i tend to be louder than everyone around me so i leave my amp (Marshall 18 watt clone) on the floor aimed away from the rest of the group. It may work opposite for you. Lift it up high and aim it at your head. I would try to stand away from the amp though. Once elevated try Positioning yourself to where you can hear withiut hurting yourself.

My friend used a MG30 and a Fender Studio 100 stacked on top of a square wood box we hauled our drum stands in so they were ear level for him he is short. Or should I say vertically challenged. That helped him to hear that 30w Marshall. No one else heard it but as long as he did.

Well that is what I wondered about with the elevated or tilted back speaker cab on stage.

I used to do this when I played in church but that is a unique gig.

So say you tilt your cab back so you can hear yourself better.

I have done this sideways to the stage.

But, for a gig where you are not mic'd, how will the guitar be heard out front?

Don't let that smoke out!
