It's better if you simply say: sorry, I was wrong. It's normal for humans. Look at the picture above: you can see the front panel and where holes are: https://tubeamparchive.com/download/file.php?id=23661

I did put a conditional; IF it was designed-in. I offered a face saver by describing a possible benefit of this "feature".
Doesn't mean I approve which I also clearly stated.
The whole package, if you look at it carefully is "inverted inside out".

rule #1: I'm never wrong
rule #2: Should I happen to be wrong rule #1 applies unconditionally

PS. Perhaps you haven't figured out yet that I like to take on the role of "advocatus diaboli"...

Have a great weekend everybody!

Well, I think you are an old tech with experience, used to be treated as a reference, and this developed a big ego. An ego that make you cluth at straws instead of admitting an error. And I don't think it's something wrong, often is a skill very useful.

Lighten up my friend, ego is grossly over rated. Had a big one when I was younger. Got rid of it many moons ago. Life's much more pleasant without it. Should I use smileys to make certain irony and sarcasm are correctly understood?
Now, back to the Laney Klipp 100 on my bench in for total renovation, much more fun than the subject of this thread.
It's all good.

IRL we would go for [IMG:57:28]http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c149/ ... /drunk.gif[/img] and continue to dissect this piece of crap down to last electron.

Are you talking about my new amp? If you are, and I seriously hope you're not, do you not think that's a wee bit strong? They can't be that bad...

Cheers for the info guys. Some interesting reading there.

Take it as it is. These two guys in particular are not only very experienced, they are perfectionists.

It's not unexpected that a company makes a mistake that costs them a good reputation. I don't like Gibson guitars made after 1962 for similar reasons. Was anyone minding the shop on that shift?

Nope.

This is more common than a casual observer would ever know.

Got an idea. Can we have the specs of those tall caps?
I'm sure there are some smaller ones (maybe they can solve mounting them on the other side).

I dunno mate, would the schematics be any good?

Engl don't like providing the right schematics for some reason, but the pic I've attached (from the SloClone forums) is verified as correct.
