Smooth to me means dampening highs. Double up on the grid resistors, or so. It's a bit of a hammer, but I love it on Fender amps, which are too glassy for their own good when screaming for you to stop that.
Signatures have a 255 character limit that I could abuse, but I am not Cecil B. DeMille.

Lol I'm scared Kyle...
But seriously thanks for the awesome tips here and yeah it's is more on the taming high end stuff I'm looking for but not in the way American style speakers kind of do it. But I'm getting really close now with the input here - still gotta try the Speed Up Cap and I think that grid resistor trick may have been the thing that dialed in my Baby Will in fine tuning...
And hey Dave - yeah I got a few EVJr mods under my belt and then every now and then the bug bites again - it was the Baby Will year before so last time I figured it was time to take another step with the 5f6a but it kinda got left w/o getting fine tuned till a pal told me about this place.
This is sort of a combo build with parts from Mojo Bassman kit board and guts augmented with my own Voxy/Marshall taste in Mallorys, smaller electrolytic's and a multi-tap OT stuffed into a low power tweed chassis in a beat up hot rod deluxe 1x12 cab - the fact that it's kind of ugly makes it even better because it's sounding great now that the NFB is hooked up lol..
The tone of this amp is literally keeping me up at night because I can't play it as much as I'd like to be right now and the whole Voxy cap thing came in a flash of inspiration while I was dreaming about the darn amp lol....
