How close were the amp sections?Bob-I wrote:I had an L100 (PortaB, same organ). I haven't looked at the tubes in detail, but they will stay in the organ in the case that I might eventually sell this organ as 100% original.
I just got one off ebay that came out of an L100. Also included the vibrato and percussion amps as well. It's a spitting image , tubes, caps all in the same place.

Totally different animals, fender to vox different. The L100 has a reverb integrated in the power amp and is built on an eyelet board. The A100 has 2 power amps, one for main one for reverb and both are PTP wired, other than EL84s they're very different.passfan wrote:

THAT'S the way to play a Hammond. His chord inversions are amazing, plus his ability to keep the rhythm moving without any other backing just amazes me.Structo wrote:That sounded great!martin manning wrote:Great link, thanks!

My Aunt used to play organ in her church.
It was old school, hymn books and all.
I can't remember if it was a pipe organ or not but I think it was just a big console organ with three mantles.
But she also had a degree in music and could play just about anything on an organ.
When I was a little kid, I would watch her toes bounce over those bass pedals with amazement.
Now that takes coordination!

It's actually not all that difficult. I played pedals and guitar for years for solo gigs.Structo wrote:My Aunt used to play organ in her church.

IMHO what takes real coordination is playing different stuff with 2 hands.

Glad you enjoyed it. Can you imagine creating something as innovative and enduring as that at 17?

I liked so many things about that video. The story and comment about being taught to crawl. Also. I have been playing Born Under a Bad Sign forever it seems, and I wasn't aware that Booker T wrote it. I am surprised that I didn't know that.
The most interesting thing to me was how Booker went into the 'zone' while actually performing each song and how he seemed to return to reality when each song was over. It was obvious to me that he went somewhere else and that he seemed to actually become the song. I have seen that in other performers to some extent. I think it is striking in this video because of the intimacy.
