I measured the capacitance on a GenRad RLC meter and chose values that were right on.

Wonderful tone. what did the plate voltages end up being? 100 watt?

My B+ varies; I have 225v to 238v wall voltage on the same day.
When the wall voltage is around 230v my B+ is 455v.
v1 measures around: 190-195v (the amp has a FET circuit)
v2 measures around; 203-210v
v3 measures around: 290-300v
v1,2 and 3 are standard tung-sol 12ax7

The amp has a 2X TAD 6L6gc-str.in the power amp.

The presence caps were measured both within 1% of it's rated value.

really great sound and great playing. what the difference for you between 715 and 6ps cap. before you tweak the amp,it was too harsh?

Hi Erwin,

to really make this a comparison between the tants and electros, one would need to hear the amp with the electrolytics.

But again this is merely of academic interest since the amp sounds very nice as is!

Cheers,

Sry Electron; the amp is in the box already for shipping.
Academic interest is good. Can someone chime in on the Q factor when we're talking about alu electrolytics and tantalum?

715 has better Q so mids are sent to ground very well. With 6PS (mid contro)l it was a bit boomy.

I thought it was just me, I found the same thing. I actually used a Xicon MPP which I'm told has a similar Q as the 715.
