Dr ZWreck is basically an AC30 with a top notch Compressor

Actually, the filtering is quite good and down to a low frequency because of the large value dropping resistors used. It should however give a softer attack with some added power supply compression which I think was the Doc's intention. If you use small values of C and R, then there would be higher ripple current and probably more buzz and/or ghosting.

Yes it is a slightly different animal then the TW Rocket as Dave (Colossal) said with a softer or easier attack which is the compression.

I will have to put my Russian tubes back in now that I know it was speaker choice that brought out the bass I was hearing and not component choice.

Didn't we see that the cathode follower in the Z-Wreck has a 100k cathode resistor versus the 56k one that is normally in the Rocket and AC30?

I just posted about this in another thread, but I'm under the impression that the cathode follower with the 56kohm cathode resistor will draw grid current much earlier than a cathode follower with a 100kohm cathode resistor.

Could this possible be part of the cause of the softer feel of the Z-wreck?

Yes. Edit: Sorry, I misread your post. 56K sounds softer than 100K to me.
