Like said on-on-on switches are not common!
when you got (on) that means that position is momentary. So the switch is only latched in that position for as long as you hold the switch there. Not too useful for us, more useful in digital systems and such.
The switch Tom is referring to is the Carling Progressive switch. It is better than a on-off-on because you can go from heaters on to a full live amp without going through the middle position (off, no voltage at all).
