I'm not sure what your friend was accomplishing by running out of his FX (send) breaking the circuit of his amp ( no volume ) going into the tape echo and then patching into your FX (return) and using your power section. It shouldnt have done anything to damage either amp as long as a load was kept on the OT. (speaker plugged into both amps)
This configuration would make more sense if the tape echo is stereo
his amp would patch FX send to tape echo input, echo out L to his X return, Tape Echo R to your FX Return. giving a stereo effect. again safe for both amps as long as a speaker is plugged in.
usually OT problems are a result of misuse i.e. a speaker not being plugged in when powered on if even for a moment.

Re: Matchless Question
Yes, you are right, I remember now.
There were 3 marshall 4x12 cabs.
His was in 1 and I guess mine was running into 2 cabs for stereo.
Is that how it was done.
Maybe you could explain how this would be routed
This is the way it looked on stage.

my amp over 4x12. (there was nothing pluged into my input.)

Re: Matchless Question
I read your post on OT's
A little over my head. But, could abad OT cause an amp to
get very loud?

probably not.sniffyduke wrote:I read your post on OT's

as for running 3 marshall cabs your amp is not stereo so at most it would be dual mono. running in series or parallel.
The tape echo lacks the ability to run a speaker cabinet on it's own (no power amp) so one amp had to be pushing two cabinets or one was used just for looks.
