Thanks James, that was pretty interesting indeed and I loved the scope pics. Pretty hard to argue with a scope pic.
Most people stall out when fixing a mistake that they've made. Why?

Completely took the cathode BP caps out of the circuit and the noise was still there. Moved a couple of grounds and cleaned power tube pins and sockets. Seems when it was making the noise if I moved the two inside EL84s it would stop so I cleaned the tube sockets. Seemed to work.........we'll see.

Hmm...I have this problem on the onset of distortion on an Express. Sounds like a blown speaker/white noise. It's only in the edge-of-breakup range. Cleans and higher breakup sound fine. Looks like I have a lot of suspects to check...
