Liverpool 5W Screen Resistors

Post by bcmatt »

So, I'm currently building my first Liverpool, (and Express for a friend simultaneously).

I used the BOMs in the files section to help me figure out all the parts I needed.

However, whenever I look at a schematic or layout, the Liverpool screen Resistors say 1K 5Watts.
The potential problem is that the BOM says 1.5K 5W.

So, I have 4 of these 1.5K 5Watt resistors and I'm wondering if it is correct for me to use them. Are they wrong? Are they going to cause problems? Can I use them, or do I need to order new resistors?
Thanks,
Matt

Liverpool uses 1K screen resistors rated at 5 watts.

Ok, phew! Thanks!

I don't understand why so many schematics that I look at say "1K 5W".

Yikes, didn't know that about the Liverpool. Gonna have to do a Mouser order.

All existing schematics/layouts have it as 1K 5W. Ron's BOM -does- have it cited as 1K5 5W.

That one caught me out too.

Just as well I'm about to swap the output transformer in mine for one of Chris' vintage-style M19/26 transformers anyway, so I'll swap out the screens while it's apart.

The Express has had a Pacific in it for some time so I thought it was about time the Liverpool saw some love, but I didn't realise I'd have to be doing this too!

Are you sure on the Liverpool value Allyn?

I thought the screens were 1K 5W and grids 1.5K.
Eardrums!!! We don't need no stinkin' eardrums!

I'd really like to know. Last weekend I was going to finish up my Liverpool's socket wiring, which included the screen and grid resistors.

Very timely question, whew.

Sorry boys, I didn't know what I was thinking. I need more sleep. Liverpool uses 1K screens. I checked my photos and my own builds....

Thanks Allyn.

Do you know how big a pain it was to swap out those 1Ks for 1K5s the other day?

Time to break out the soldering station again!

Went full circle on this one.

Didn't install the 1k I had because of the 1k5 debate.

Ordered and received 1k5 's from Mouser.

Was going to install last weekend, but got roped into family activities.

Whew.

I will fix the Liverpool BOM, I must have not changed that value when I created the LP BOM (I copied the Express document as a template)

Sorry folks, my bad, I didn't catch that...

So, over the last week my Liverpool has had 1K, 1K5 and now 1K again on the screens!

Fortunately, in doing all this, I've swapped in Moose's vintage-spec OT in place of the older M27 iron so at least I'll be comparing apples with apples now as soon as I get a chance to crank it.

Well, I'm glad we got this straightened out. I'll have to order the right ones. I've been busy moving anyways, so I didn't get 1k5s installed anyways.
