Im trying to make reverb cables using a mojo kit. Its just like the pre cbs fenders.
Problme is Im having a hard time making a good connection with the wire going inside the plug and then soldering the shielding.
Can anyone offer me some advice on how to get this done?
Thanks

Are you using the outside braided cables seen on vintage amps?
One problem I see people having is using too much heat when they solder the shield, often times melting the inner conductor insulation, shorting out the cable.
Depending on the RCA plug you are using it can be a challenge.
You want to separate the braiding back about 1/2 inch then twist it together.
Strip about 1/4 inch of the inner conductor.
It's best to pre tin the wires before soldering as well.
Do this by melting some solder into the wires, not too much though, just enough to saturate it.
I generally solder the inner conductor to the inside pin, then the shielding to the tang.

try sanding the rca housing lightly to help give the braid something to solder to.
i've also had luck plugging it into a socket and holding it with a panavise so i can get good coverage and get off before it gets to hot.

For now Im using the original rubber cables.
I just cant seem to get a good connection and look with the braided steel cables.
I need to worka little harder on getting a good look and workings.

Is there an advantage in using the old, braided cable?
Thank You
