Aloha, these are old demo tapes that I dug up and had captured on digital format. Recorded with an Soldano SLO (I got to meet Mike while I was in LA....very cool guy). These were recorded just before I got my first Wreck.
Ken loved the playing and the compositions but didn't care much for the tone.
I had given up recording and had also lost access to the home (someone else's) 8 track Fostex reel to reel studio. Through the years Ken tried to get me to record a demo with the Wrecks but I had had it with doing demo. These were put away for over 15 years.....I'm surprised the tapes were still in such great condition. Hope you like the songs. Thanks

Wesley,
Thanks, enjoyed them.
Wish you would have made some back then with the Wrecks.
Surely would have enjoyed them too.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird. Now the world is weird , and they take Prozac to make it normal.

Very good playing I wished you had recorded that DLM you had or have too.
Re: Old Demo Recordings From the Early 90's
Thanks for the positive comments
Unfortunately, I never got to record my Wrecks......also, those recordings were done at relatively soft volume levels. I don't think I could have recorded the Wrecks at the home studio at those kind of volume levels.
Maybe someday

Maybe you listened to the Ronnie Montrose recording of "Town Without Pity" once or twice?
Re: Old Demo Recordings From the Early 90's
My producer told me to write a song like "Town Without Pity". I knew that song because Ronnie Montrose covered that song on his solo album "Open Fire". I'm a big fan of Ronnie Montrose and I LOVED that song! If it sounds "like" that song, I take it as a compliment...it was my tribute to a great song and great guitarist.drew wrote:Maybe you listened to the Ronnie Montrose recording of "Town Without Pity" once or twice?
After I poured my heart into writing and playing my tribute to that song.....my producer didn't like it!!! I was totally baffled...he told me it was too close to the original. I told him that I could transcribe the melody and harmony for both songs....they are very different. The "spirit" is the same but other than that they are different songs. Anybody that knows music could tell you, yes, they sound similar, but they are different songs. That song was the start of the end of my recording project.
I thought there was also a salute to my other hero...Jeff Beck.
There is also a backwards guitar solo just before the clean guitar interlude.
I actually turned the tape around...had to lay down a stick clip because it was weird playing to a track playing backwards.
Aloha
