Boy, I bet it could get pretty loud with 4x EV 12's. Somebody should rotate those speakers so the dust cap logos look a little more organized - that always irks me a little.
Thanks for posting this, I'll add it to my birthday wish list.

I used to work with a sound man who insisted that rotating speakers was critical to their sound over time. He'd turn every speaker in his rig 45 degrees every few months.dano-rator wrote:Somebody should rotate those speakers so the dust cap logos look a little more organized - that always irks me a little.

You know, I've heard that before, especially in regard to 15"ers. I'm not sure I'm organized enough to work that into my routine, so I... wait for it... "set it and forget it!"Bob-I wrote:turn every speaker in his rig 45 degrees every few months.

Is it the frame or the cone that causes the need for rotation - I'd be inclined to think cast frame 12" speakers would hold up pretty well, but if it's the paper cone distorting, well that, i guess, is conceivable due to environmental factors or whathaveyou.
Ps. Not looking for a fight here, just a little knowledge from the more knowledgeable.

The surround and the spider sag over the course of time. I think the foam surrounds are the most succeptible.
My Twin had EV SROs for over thirty years and I never rotated them. The ceramic EVs have a much stiffer surround and spider.
Rotating 4x12s would mean messing with the wiring harness for sure. I wouldn't worry about them if they were mine.
